Answer
Health and Social Care Trusts (HSCTs) advise on receiving a referral for a day centre placement, an assessment of the individuals needs is undertaken by the Trust. Following this assessment of need, the Trust will work in partnership with the individual and their family representatives/carers as appropriate, to co-ordinate appropriate support and service provision, aligned to assessed need.
Due to demand for day centre placements, HSCTS may on occasion operate a waiting list. HSCTs may consider alternatives to daycentre, based on assessed need, including day opportunities, community and voluntary services, home care provision or direct payments. HSCTs undertake Reviews of individuals’ needs periodically to ensure service provision continues to meet assessed need.
