Answer
I can confirm that a decision on the way forward has been reached and arrangements are being finalised to ensure that summer-born children in Primary 7 can continue to access the support provided under the Northern Ireland Childcare Subsidy Scheme (NICSS).
This practical change responds directly to concerns raised by parents and childcare providers in Northern Ireland, and reflects my commitment to supporting working families and making childcare as accessible and affordable as possible.
Further guidance will be communicated directly to providers and to affected families shortly, providing clarity on the change and how to access the available support through NICSS.
The change applies to the NICSS element of childcare support only and does not extend or amend eligibility for Tax-Free Childcare which is solely the responsibility of His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs.
