Answer
The Education Authority has advised that:
There has been ongoing, positive engagement through the Joint Education and Health Oversight Group, and through direct engagement with the Department of Health, around how the development of multi-disciplinary specialist support for Special Educational Needs (SEN) can be achieved. Subject to consultation responses, a key element of SEN transformation through the Enhanced Support Model will be the development of multi-disciplinary specialist support for SEN, to include Allied Health Professionals and other staff.
Increased access to specialist roles, including health professionals will require investment in training as well as changes to current service delivery models which can only be achieved through transforming the current model of SEN support.
