Answer

(i)

(a) The delivery timeline for the Education Information Solutions (EdIS) programme has been impacted most recently by the December 2024 decision to terminate the Strategic Partner contract with Fujitsu and the subsequent legal challenge affecting the Schools Management System procurement and business case approvals. Although delivery schedules face unavoidable short-term delays, progress continues across the EdIS programme.

(b) Whilst revised budget forecasts show improvement, the final outturn against budget position depends on approval of the revised business case which is currently going through the approvals process.

(ii)

EdIS is a large-scale and complex educational technology and digital transformation programme comprising a total of 33 projects. Of these, eighteen projects have been delivered, nine projects are currently in delivery, four are planned to commence in 2026 and the remaining two are still in the planning phase.
