To ask the Minister of Education to detail the number of pupils being electively home educated, in each of the last five years.

The Education Authority (EA) has provided the information below in respect of the number of children it was informed of who were being electively home educated in each of the last five years. Whilst the EA is aware of children who have attended and subsequently been deregistered from a school, there is no duty on parents to inform the Department of Education or the EA if they have chosen to educate their children at home. Thus, there is no complete record of children being electively home educated in Northern Ireland.
