Answer
The Education and Training Inspectorate exercises its functions under Article 102 of The Education and Libraries (Northern Ireland) Order 1986.
Inspectors have a duty to:
promote the highest standards of education and of professional practice among teachers and staff in schools and settings;
advise the Department on any aspect of the curriculum which the Department may refer to them or on which they think advice is appropriate; and
monitor, inspect and report on the nature, scope and effect of advisory and support services provided by the Education Authority in relation to the curricula and staff of grant‐aided schools.
