Answer
My Department acknowledges the recommendations outlined within the report and how these can help to deliver better outcomes for those living with blood cancer. However, my Department was not consulted or involved in the development of this particular publication.
My Department has undertaken service reviews across the core haematology cancer pathways (Myeloma, Lymphoma and Leukaemia) in Northern Ireland. The haematology pathway reviews have identified a range of recommendations that will help transform the future delivery of haematology services.
Work is ongoing to progress the implementation of the haematology review recommendations and is dependent on the complexity and scale of the review recommendations, available resources and other existing commissioning priorities.
I remain fully committed to the implementation of the NI Cancer Strategy and to working collaboratively with all stakeholders to transform our cancer services that will deliver better outcomes for all of those impacted by a cancer diagnosis in Northern Ireland.
